MPT. This is bigger than television.
Maryland Public Television airs Angelina Ballerina
New animated children's series features voices of Finty Williams and Dame
Judi Dench
OWINGS MILLS, MD: Angelina Ballerina is dancing her way
onto MPT this spring! This new weekly animated series about a dance-struck
little mouse, Angelina Ballerina, features the voices of film and theatre
actress Finty Williams (as Angelina Ballerina) and her mother Dame Judi
Dench (as Angelina's instructor, Miss Lilly). The series, based on the
popular children's books written by Katharine Holabird and illustrated
by Helen Craig, airs Sunday at 9:30 a.m. beginning May 5 on Maryland Public
Television (MPT).
Targeted to three-to-seven year olds, Angelina Ballerina follows
the (mis)adventures of the passionate young mouse who dreams of ballet
stardom but manages to propel herself into humorous escapades that teach
valuable life-lessons about honesty, determination, and a host of other
positive values. Each half-hour program will contain two animated episodes
and will conclude with a live-action dance instruction segment sure to
educate and inspire young viewers.
Produced by HIT Entertainment, the global studio responsible for such
highly rated children's shows as Barney & Friends, Bob the Builder
and Kipper, the Angelina Ballerina series is animated
by the award-winning Grand Slamm Children's Films.
"We have a long and valued relationship with PBS dating back to 1992,
when Barney & Friends began airing on the PBS stations nationwide,"
said Rob Lawes, chief executive officer of HIT Entertainment. "With
its charm, wisdom and underlying educational messages, we believe Angelina
Ballerina is an ideal addition to PBS' schedule of high-quality children's
programming. We're thrilled to be partnering with them again in this new
broadcast venture."
Maryland Public Television is a not-for-profit, state-licensed public
television station which serves the citizens and communities of Maryland
and beyond through a variety of broadcast and nonbroadcast activities.
