MPT. This is bigger than television.
Independent Eye premieres on MPT on Saturday,
April 20 at 11 p.m.
Six-part cinematic celebration hosted by Joan Jett
OWINGS MILLS, MD: If you have doubts about the health and well being of
artistic vision and television's willingness to air it, you won't want to
miss Independent Eye, Maryland Public Television's eighth annual series
of independent films. Amid the clutter of talk shows, reality TV and game
shows, MPT continues to carve a place for growth and evolution of individual
creativity, where support of artistic vision results in refreshing and thought-provoking
entertainment produced on shoestring budgets.
Joan Jett - international rock star and founder of Blackheart Records,
the first woman-owned independent record label - returns to host this
season's film extravaganza. Independent Eye 2002 features an exciting
blend of cutting-edge experimental videos, animations, comedies, documentaries,
and feature films recorded on everything from 16 mm and Super 8 film to
digital video and computer-generated interactive media. Independent Eye
airs on consecutive Saturdays from April 20, 2002 through June 1, 2002,
with the exception of May 4. A film synopsis follows.
