MPT. This is bigger than television.

The 416th Maryland General Assembly session begins
and Maryland Public Television is there

OWINGS MILLS, MD: State Circle returns for its 21st season on Friday, January 11 at 7:00 p.m., bringing the state house to your house. Join Jeff Salkin, John Aubuchon, Karen Allyn and Mindy Mintz as they bring you the latest developments in legislative news from Annapolis.

Every Friday Direct Connection State Circle Edition brings you in-depth analysis of major issues, pending bills and interviews with the experts - more news from Annapolis during the General Assembly session than any other Maryland news source. With the recession and budget cutbacks all over the place State Circle will keep you informed on the important issues and on the projects which get slashed and cut as legislators work to balance a much smaller budget.

Some of the issues to be covered during the 2001 session include the all important issue of redistricting as the governor and legislators redistrict the state in an attempt to win certain district seats. State Circle will also have the latest on the race for 2002 governor and the legacy of the Glendening administration.

State Circle is one of a series of public affairs programs produced by MPT throughout the year to keep Marylanders informed about the workings of their state government. Please mark the following dates on your 2001 calendar:

January 16, 12 noon State of the State - Governor Parris N. Glendening addresses the citizens of Maryland from the State House in Annapolis. The address is broadcast in its entirety.

April 8, 7:30-8:00 p.m. Direct Connection State Circle Edition "Sine Die" - Coverage of the close of the session

April 9, 8:00-9:00 p.m. Direct Connection State Circle Edition "Electronic Town Meeting: Final Grades"

April 12, 7:30-8:00 p.m. Direct Connection State Circle Edition: "Legislative Wrap-up"

Direct Connection State Circle Edition is an MPT production; Steve Kremer is producer.
