OWINGS MILLS: Need money for college? Whether you're a returning
student or just beginning, You Can Afford College 2002 has some
guidance that helps lighten the financial load. On Saturday, January 12th
at 11:00 a.m., and again at 1:00 p.m., Maryland Public Television (MPT)
airs its annual guide to financial aid, You Can Afford College 2002.
Understanding how to get money for college is made easy through interviews
with federal and state financial aid experts, high school guidance counselors,
bank lending experts, and students sharing their own financial aid success
stories Viewers learn about important applications and deadlines; the
basic types of grants, scholarships and loans available in Maryland; federal
financial aid programs; work-study programs; tuition free service academies;
important Web sites; how to avoid financial aid scams, and more.
Beginning with the 11:00 a.m. broadcast until 2:00 p.m., financial aid
experts from around the state take phone calls at MPT to provide detailed
