Maryland Public Television's Electronic Tour Guide:
MPT On Location
Oysters, Artists, and a Sugarloaf in November
OWINGS MILLS, MD: Each month MPT On Location
host, Rhea Feikin, reports from important community and cultural events
happening throughout Maryland and Washington, D.C., featuring the people
and places that make the region a great place to live.
Rhea Feikin and the MPT On Location
team bring the following highlights to viewers' homes in November:
Saturday, November 3 at Oysterfest 2001 Rhea heads to the Eastern
Shore for the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum's prime event. Festival attendees
dine on raw, steamed, and fried oysters while enjoying live music, boat
rides, and children's activities, and an opportunity to learn shucking,
tonging and nippering techniques.
Saturday, November 10 Western Maryland Gallery Tour Artists in
Allegany, Frederick, Garrett, and Washington Counties open their galleries
to Rhea Feikin and the MPT On Location crew. Creations from these functional
artists-an oil painter, watercolor artist, potters, a wood turner, photographers,
and metal sculptor-are part of the impromptu gathering of sites accessible
to area tourists and art lovers.
Saturday, November 17 at the Sugarloaf Craft Festival Montgomery County
Fair Grounds Rhea roams this Montgomery County Fair Grounds event
through a myriad of glass, pottery, leather, wood jewelry and other fine
crafts just in time for holiday shopping.
MPT On Location airs statewide, Saturdays or Sundays, between regularly
scheduled programs. Events and story ideas celebrate the diversity of
our state and educate our audience about the opportunities within their
own neighborhoods and highlight the best that Maryland has to offer.
MPT On Location has visited each of Maryland's 23 counties, and
Baltimore City to produce 323 episodes in ten years of broadcast. MPT
On Location is produced for Maryland Public Television by award-winning
producer Kelli Green. For more information on this and other MPT on- and
off-air programs, please visit mpt.org.
