MPT's Financial Education and Empowerment Initiative

Overview

Recently, Maryland Public Television (MPT) has heard from viewers, community members and 40 partner organizations about a need to help Maryland residents navigate today's uncertain economy.

To address this need, MPT is launching a multi-platform public awareness campaign in September, 2009 to connect Maryland residents to trusted, balanced and FREE financial education resources, supports and programming. The campaign encourages self responsibility and empowers individuals and families to make informed and competent decisions about their personal finances in order to build a practical foundation for progress.

By harnessing the power of on-air, online, and widespread in-community outreach, the campaign is intended to improve people's capacity to better understand and manage debt, build and maintain good credit and build assets effectively. Through key relationships with local and national partners, the campaign connects community members to valuable resources, local workshops, information hotlines and free counseling services.

Throughout the campaign, MPT will reach out to Maryland residents by broadcasting relevant financial education programs and interstitials. The compiled links and resources on this site will help you evaluate your current finances and in turn, take the next steps toward a healthier financial future.

Stay tuned as the campaign develops!
There is much more to come!
