MPT to Air Live NewsHour Coverage of Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s Senate Confirmation Hearings

Coverage will begin Monday, July 13 at 10 a.m.

Owings Mills, Md.—Maryland Public Television (MPT) will air live NewsHour with Jim Lehrer coverage of Supreme Court justice nominee Sonia Sotomayor’s Senate confirmation hearings beginning Monday, July 13 at 10 a.m. on both MPT’s flagship channel and MPT2.

Anchored by NewsHour correspondent Judy Woodruff, Monday’s coverage is expected to include statements from each member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, with Sotomayor’s statement anticipated Monday or Tuesday. The live coverage is expected to last throughout the majority of the week. Highlights of the hearings will appear on the daily NewsHour program each evening.

Woodruff’s live coverage will come from a booth overlooking the hearing room in the Hart Senate Office Building. Her guest will be Marcia Coyle, who regularly covers the Supreme Court for the NewsHour and for the National Law Journal.
