Baltimore’s Red Line Set for Debate on MPT
Both sides of the proposed east-west city transit line are discussed by Canton residents Friday night on State Circle
Owings Mills, MD—Maryland Public Television (MPT) spotlights Baltimore City’s hotly contested Red Line Friday, August 14 at 7:30 p.m. on State Circle, as two Canton residents with opposing viewpoints speak out on the issue.
The city’s proposed Red Line is a 14-mile east-west transit between the Woodlawn area of Baltimore County, west Baltimore communities, downtown Baltimore, Inner Harbor East, Fells Point, Canton and the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Proponents say the plan would be a major boost to commuters and the economy in the area, while opponents are objecting to portions of the line that will run above ground through their Canton and west Baltimore neighborhoods.
Canton resident Dan Tracy, a Red Line supporter, will weigh on why he’s backing the controversial new route. Ben Rosenberg, also a Canton Resident, will explain why he opposes it. State Circle host Jeff Salkin will moderate the discussion.
